Two Wonderful Truths

Paul made an amazing connection between two wonderful truths. We find it in Galatians 3:14 -

"in order that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit by faith."

Paul connects the promised blessing of Abraham with our receiving the Holy Spirit. This is a great revelation! Do you see how the two are so vital to each other? God chose to bless Abraham for a reason that He Himself clearly stated in Gen 18:19

- "For I saw that he would order his sons and his house after him and they will guard the ways of the Lord to do righteousness and judgment SO THAT the Lord may bring about all that
He spoke to him."

God saw that Abraham would guide his descendants in righteousness so that the blessing of the Lord could rest upon his house. The blessing of the Lord is only upon the home of the righteous, and his curse is upon the house of the wicked. How does "the promise of the Spirit" relate to this?

Here is what God said about His Spirit being given

- "And I will put My Spirit in you and shall make you to go in my righteousness and you shall guard my judgments and you will do them."

Those who receive the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus fulfill all the righteousness of the Law by being led by the Spirit. This enables God to do for us every blessing He spoke to do for Abraham. His Spirit makes us to walk in His righteousness so that His blessing can rest upon us. This is truly amazing - what a GREAT GOD!
