Consider
THE END of the fool - from Prov 5. The fool repents AT THE END of his
life - "and you shall be repenting at the end of your life
whenever your flesh wears away from your body and you shall say Oh
how I hated instruction and my heart turned aside reproofs. I would
not hear the voice of the one correcting me and teaching me nor did I
set aside my ear. Little by little I came unto every evil even while
in the midst of the assembly and congregation."
How sad and
inconsolable will the fool's final repentance be! What a pitiful fate
awaits all who choose their own way, only to repent at the very end.
Our Lord made it very clear - "there will be weeping and
gnashing of teeth." The torment of the outer darkness will be
made most severe by the realization of every opportunity to turn
squandered, every help refused and every attempt to be helped
despised and seen as interference rather than rescue.
Every fool will
repent in the end and will fully realize that they "refused the
love of the truth" and chose instead to "take pleasure in
unrighteousness".
Every knee will bow and every tongue will
confess that Jesus is Lord - but some as they enter into eternal joy
and others into eternal agony. An agony compounded by a repentance
that came too late.
TODAY is the day of salvation. NOW is the
acceptable time. TODAY if you hear His voice - HARDEN NOT YOUR HEART!
The final repentance will not save, it will only increase the
severity of the eternal regret.
