GUARD the good deposit

I read this verse from Proverbs 19 today, - "a son who ceases guarding the instruction of a father will meditate upon evil sayings." Evil sayings might sound logical, reasonable, and appealing - but only God word is true. I hope we remember that the Lord has an arch enemy, whose only purpose is to deceive men by causing them to doubt or disregard God's word.

As a protection from the lies of the devil, the Lord has given us His truth and His Spirit to guide us into a complete knowledge of His truth. What Paul told Timothy, I remind you also - "GUARD the good deposit within you, guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit."

God's truth is a treasure of wisdom and understanding. Never cease guarding this treasure - for nothing else compares to the value of knowing and understanding the Lord. "Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom, let not the strong man boast of his strength, let not the rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts, boast about THIS - that He knows me, that he understands that I am the Lord who exercises mercy, judgment, and righteousness."

Those who cease guarding this treasure are the most likely to find it has been stolen while they slept - and most will never recover it!
