Accepting What God Allows

Why are we instructed not to grow weary in well doing; because, Paul knew God allows
seasons of silence,
weeks of weakness,
and perhaps even
decades of difficulty.

One of the things that we are tempted to grow weary of during such times is "giving thanks in ALL things."

Is it difficult to thank God when His gifts are enriching us?  No!

When times are good, thanksgiving flows like rivers in the rainy season; however, we are sorely tempted to grow weary of giving thanks during the long dry season of drought.

Did God really expect the early Christians to give thanks for their loved ones being slaughtered in the Roman sporting games?  Were mothers really expected to give thanks when their husbands were forcibly taken away from home and some of their children were being devoured by wild beasts?

IN EVERYTHING give thanks - really?

Temptation to question God in the face of such gut wrenching difficulties will test our spiritual stamina even to the breaking point.  But these tests come "for the proving of our faith!"

Do we "believe" God is good
or do we merely "feel" like He is good?

Can we say "though HE SLAY ME - YET will I praise Him"?   The word of God is honest;  we are forewarned that we must enter the kingdom through MUCH TRIBULATION - this is why "We HAVE NEED of ENDURANCE!"

Our inheritance is gained, and His promise is fulfilled - through faith and longsuffering.  Let's be like Abraham, who rather than being wavered by unbelief, was strengthened by faith - and "GAVE GLORY TO GOD!"  And he did this DURING his longsuffering - before he saw God's promise fulfilled.  Faith is the evidende of things NOT SEEN - and the power that enables us to GIVE THANKS IN ALL THINGS!
