Jesus spoke with an authority that none of the scribes and teachers knew because He had an AWEsome awareness of who His Father was.
He Himself had so laid hold of every word the Father had spoken to Him that when He repeated the word, nothing was lost of its original power.
If we would speak or act with the authority of Jesus Christ, it will only be to the same degree that we have first learned submission to Him.
The man who has been cured of his own hesitation and resistance to The Lord, obeys out of a reverent fear borne through brokenness.
The word of God is able to sink deep into the soil of such a broken and contrite heart; no wonder it becomes so well rooted and established.
The harder the soil is, the less the germination and the rooting. The Roman centurion was a man of authority because his superiors first observed his submission to their commands and subsequently entrusted him with a command of his own.
The man who first subdues his own strongholds gains great experience and confidence to pull down the strongholds in others.
When we have learned to fully tremble at the word of God, we will have simultaneously learned to triumph by it. The man who learns to fearThe Lord will discover he is free from the fear of man.
Genuine spiritual authority will always be borne out of a great reverential awe of the Author of our faith. The scenes from heaven that we have been given glimpses of reveal that those who are closest to the throne are the first to fall down and worship. The first ones to fall down are the ones sitting on thrones to judge the nations!
