God's Alarms

Beware of hitting the "snooze" button.

We usually set the alarm for a reason - though few of us if any actually enjoy its sound.

Normally we set our alarm when we know we have to be somewhere by a certain time.  In foresight, we set an alarm to insure we will awaken with enough time to get ready.  We know that we can not get ready while we are still asleep.  If we are particularly exhausted, we are more tempted to hit the "snooze" button - but this not usually wise because we end up taking away from the time we allowed for ourselves to get ready.

We need to learn to appreciate God's alarm and respond to it.

God's alarm only comes to wake us out of a spiritual slumber early enough to give us time to get dressed and ready for service.

The alarms are rarely pleasant, but they were not necessarily meant to be .   God knows this, He get's no pleasure  in irritating us with an alarming word.  Yet, in His wisdom He sounds an alarm through a messenger; He does this out His grace to allow us time to rise and prepare.

God's alarms are usually no more pleasant than the alarms we set - yet they serve the same purpose and therefore we should learn not to despise them.

God's alarms will only repeat themselves  if we stay in bed and keep hitting the snooze button. However, once we get up and get ready, His alarm is no longer needed.

Let's be careful
not to resent God's alarm.
It is not intended
 to be pleasant,
but neither is it
intended to be continual.

If we will simply respond to it by getting up, getting ready, and getting with it, God will have other more pleasant things for us to hear.

"Despise not prophecies!" It's just God's way of waking someone up to allow them adequate time to get ready for the day of The Lord.  No one likes to hear an alarm, especially if we are already awake and we know it's someone else's; but rather than despise the message, why not help by gently shaking the shoulder of the sleepyhead to let them know that their alarm is going off.
